Silent Habits (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a privacy-first, local-first habit tracker. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. Silent Habits has no user accounts and no backend server that stores your habits.
Every habit you create, your daily completion and skip logs, optional skip reasons, and your app settings are stored locally on your device. We have no server that receives, stores, or can read your habit content, and Silent Habits has no user accounts. Your data is protected by your device’s own security (such as your passcode and the operating system’s on-device encryption). We never sell your data.
You can export your habits and logs to a JSON file and import them back. These files are created and shared only when you initiate the action, using your device’s file system and share sheet.
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. This collects anonymous product-usage events such as screen views, app opens, and actions like creating, editing, completing, or skipping a habit, viewing the paywall, and completing onboarding. Events may include an internal random habit identifier and a device/OS identifier, but they do not include your habit names, descriptions, or skip reasons. We do not use this data to identify you personally.
Silent Habits offers a one-time “Pro” purchase that unlocks unlimited habits. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat, which we use to validate and restore purchases. Your payment details are handled entirely by Apple or Google and are never seen by the app. RevenueCat receives purchase and basic device information to manage your entitlement.
The app uses Expo’s update service to deliver improvements. This involves routine network requests to check for and download updates.
The app requests minimal access: file access only when you explicitly pick or save an export/import file, and haptic feedback. It does not access your camera, contacts, location, microphone, or photos.
Because your habit data lives on your device, deleting the app removes that data. You can also delete individual habits and logs in the app at any time. To remove analytics or purchase data held by our processors, contact us at the email below.
Silent Habits is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We rely on a small number of third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it handles:
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
